Comments:

I'm very happily married since '71 to Donata Black, NHS class of '70. We have lived mostly in the Cleveland area (~13 years) and Buffalo (~30 years) because of my vocation, which is occupational health and safety since '78, and my avocation, which is pastoring Jesus-seekers and His lovers since '70.

I've recently moved back to Newark to work as a project safety manager at the construction site of the new Facebook-New Albany data centers, while also still keeping our home in Buffalo.

School Story:

Grade school was always difficult for me. I remember being mercilessly teased and bullied, resulting in numerous fistfights because of my childish, poor reactions, regardless that I lost every fight. I remember how Jim Madison became my close friend, my defender, my savior, which seemed to cause others to lay off me.

I remember the many joys I had being basketball manager for six years, grades 7-12, and the many friends made through basketball, and the many championships we won, and how the teams always considered me to be one of them, even though I wasn't actually a player (although I did win the foul-shooting contest, once!). These experiences gave me the confidence I've carried with me my entire life.

I remember being extremely shy around girls, especially with my unrequitted first love in grades 4-9. I remember my first kiss, as a senior, and how it freaked me out. I remember dating several classmates after high school, until I met the love of my life, my wife Donata Black (class of '70) in 1971.

I remember finding Jesus my senior year, and how I was nevertheless neglected by Christian leaders, and was without a shepherd to feed me and guide me. I remember how I became rebellious, got into a lot of trouble my last semester at NHS and first year of college, got drafted by the army, but failed my medical exam. I remember how the Lord found me in 1970 in the depths of despair, and He restored my soul, causing me to become full of Christ, myself a shepherd of others' souls through pastoring, and through my professional carrier in occupational health and safety.
