Donald E. Worden

November 23, 1950 - July 1, 2012

DURHAM, NH: Donald E. Worden, 61, died July 1, 2012 at Hyder Family Hospice House, Dover, NH.

Born November 23, 1950 in Newark, Ohio, he was the son of the later Walter and Wilma (Cagney) Worden. Raised in Newark he graduated from Newark High School, and moved to New Hampshire in 1970 where he received his Associates Degree at the School for Life Long Learning.

Donald served in the US Navy from 1969-1972 and was stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. For 26 years Don worked at the University of New Hampshire as the Athletic Equipment Manager. He retired in 2011.

Don loved spending time with his grandchildren, participating in various fantasy sports leagues, and bass fishing. He enjoyed many fishing trips with the guys, and competing in bass fishing tournaments.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda (Pratte) Worden; two daughters, Pamela Miller and Von of Columbia, SC, and Brenda Worden of Lee, NH; two grandchildren, Isaiah Worden of Lee and Trey Miller of Columbia, SC; a brothers, Fred Worden and Matthew King of Ohio; three sisters, Sharon Bagent and Larry, Rebecca Bentz and Robert, Margery Boso and Thomas all of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law, Dennis Pratte of Lee and Douglas Pratte of Chula Vista, CA.

Visiting hours will be held at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Street, Newmarket, NH, on Friday, July 6th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. At 1 p.m. there will be a Prayer Service at the Funeral Home. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Parish Center at St. Mary Church, Newmarket.
