Gary A. Luzio VERO BEACH: Funeral Services for Gary A. Luzio, 64, of Vero Beach, Florida, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 10, 2015, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest as celebrant. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 9-11 A.M. prior to the service. A private family inurnment will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.Gary passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 24, 2015.

He was born in Newark, Ohio on July 12, 1950 to Norma (Kistler) Luzio, of Newark, and the late John A. Luzio.In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by his brother, Jon Luzio (Pat Mahieu); his sister, Joyce Luzio; step-daughter Kimberly, step-son Derrick and their mother Glenda; his aunts, Wilma Luzio of Newark, and Jean Luzio of Heath; and a large extended family of many cousins, nieces and nephews who mourn his passing.

Gary had obtained the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated from Newark High School in 1968.

He received his Doctorate in Chemistry from Ohio State University before serving as a professor at Denison University, Granville. He then went to work for Nestle Corporation as a lab supervisor before joining Hercules Chemical Corporation as a research chemist.

Gary next joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Fort Pierce, Florida where he was currently employed. He was a member of the National Technical Honor Society, the National Chemist Society and Harbor Branch Society. He was also a member of Skelton Row Crew, Palm Society, and the Wind Surfer Club.
