July 5, 1950 - August 12, 2003

A memorial service for Mary Louise Louden, 53, of Fairbanks, Alaska, will be held at 1:00 P.M. today at the Heath Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta, & Johnston Funeral Service, with the Rev. Wesley Baker officiating.

Mrs. Louden, a 1968 graduate of Newark High School, died August 12, 2003, at the The Morrison House Hospice at Good Samaritan Hospital.  She was born July 5, 1950, in Fairbanks, Alaska, to George D. Louden and the late Margaret (Greenlees) Louden.

Mrs. Louden attended The Ohio State University and was employed as a medical transcriptionist.  She served as co-chair for the breast cancer support group and also on the board of directors for the Presbyterian Hospitality House in Fairbanks, Alaska.  She also was a Longaberger consultant.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of eight years, Michael Sweeney; daughter, Courtney Johnson, of the home; brother, John (Cathy) Louden of Pittsboro, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours observed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Breast Cancer Detection Center, 1905 Cowles St., Fairbanks, Alaska 99701, and/or The Presbyterian Hospitality House, 626 Second St., Fairbanks, Alaska 99701.

In the band, two players shared a music stand.  Mary Lou, a fellow clarinetist, was my

"standmate" for a couple of years, as I recall.  I also recall her great good cheer, unstinting

hard work, and a radiant smile.

I have good memories of Mary Lou in lunch room my senior year. A group of us would meet and sit together and she was always so cheerful and so much fun.
