Janet Sue English

July 8, 1950 - June 30, 2024

Janet Sue English, age 73, of Newark, passed away on June 30, 2024, at Altercare South Nursing Home. She was born July 8, 1950, in Newark to the late Robert L. English and Laura “Elma” Crawford English.

Janet was a 1968 graduate of Newark High School. She worked for K-Mart and Meijer Stores, retiring from each store when they closed their Newark locations.

She enjoyed helping customers and making new friends. Before moving to Altercare South Nursing Home in 2022, she lived for several years at Northtown Senior Living Apartments. She enjoyed spending time in the community room, interacting with other residents and putting puzzles together. She loved her cat, “Baby”, that she acquired through Cheri Weber, who places homeless cats, and who found a loving home for “Baby” when Janet moved to Altercare South Nursing Home. Nick Russo and his twin daughters, Ariana and Kylie, would bring “Baby” to visit Janet in Altercare South. Janet was a lifelong member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she served as an acolyte and sang in the choir as a youth and delighted in helping with their food pantry in later years.

Janet is survived by her sister, Jane Synder of Florida, 15 nieces and nephews, and several close friends of over 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Jeffrey English, and her grandmother, Mae Crawford.

Inurnment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery on August 14, 2024, following a short graveside service at 10 a.m., conducted by Pastor Craig Burdick.
