A lot of stars had to align for Emily and me to attend the reunion.  I thought they could, but they didn't.  I had looked forward to seeing everyone, especially those who are traveling a long distance such as Margaret Freytag, Charles Price, and others.  I expected some good-natured ribbing from Dave Froberg about my 2008 "protest."  Many of you no doubt would have conveyed some interesting memories of Charlie Snow, Phil Jenkins, and our other old friends who have died in the past five years.  Above all, to attend would be to honor the efforts of Peggy, Jan, Steve, Mike, and you others who have worked hard to put this together.  But if all the folks mentioned by Jan do attend, that leaves 68 of you, so perhaps the stars did align after all.

Lest anyone think that the "Spirit of '68" is flagging at this end, rest assured:  Dave Richards stayed with us last week on a rare East Coast excursion; Ron Larason just sent an informative message, and Malcolm Montgomery recently forwarded some articles on--you guessed it--the Mounds!  So, this weekend, Go 'Cats!

More attending: Dr. Bryce Morrice,Kathy Nethers, wife of Larry Nethers, and Dave Froberg' s daughter,Kristin ,Don and Sandy Wright Smith. As you can see with Roger's comment, he and Emily won't be coming,so with the additions I just listed, we have 72;52 classmates and 20 spouses or significant others.

Just to let everyone know, the bridge on Church Street by the Mariott is being closed for 3 months for repairs. To get to the Mariott you would need to use Gtranville to Country Club and then back up Church Street. Hope to see everyone this weekend.

Hoping there will be a TV for us to watch the Wisconsin vs Ohio State game in the dining room...? I didn't realize this would be a night game until today. I hate Wisconsin even more than Michigan - a game not to be missed. Go Bucks! Go Wildcats!

Don't understand why more "locals" don't come to party to join with those of us who travel to see "everyone".

I don't travel from far away but would love to see more at the events.

Maybe for our 50th?

P.S.  Thanks to the committee.  Enjoyed the evening and looking forward to tomorrow.

Hope everybody has a good time. Been 12 years since I have been back to Newark. Perhaps I will

get back for next years fun. Sure do appreciate all the effort that has been done to keep this site

up and running. And perhaps some names to go along with those amazing new pictures that were

just posted. Been too long.

It was a fantastic reunion weekend, but it was over too quick. I saw several people that I wanted to say hi to but didn't get around enough to see them all. So when is the next commitee meeting? Just kidding, although being a military man, the military would have what is called a debriefing after such an event to discuss what went well and what to change. Besides I kinda liked going to Damon's once a month.

Hi Everyone,

What a Great, Enjoyable,  and Wonderful Two Day Reunion Week-end.  Lots of Laughter and Great Ribbing and Fun.  It was so great to sit down, spend time and just relax and talk with old friends and renew old friendships.   I haven't laughed so much in a long time with a bunch of "old folks."  I want to Thank Jan, Charlotte and Donetta for all of their hard work and their last minute ideas that made the reunion such a Fun Time.  I also want to thank Mike for heading up the golf outing and Steve for spreading the word about the reunion.  Thanks Diana for being a Great Greeter at the front table.  And, Special Thanks to All of the classmates who traveled from Washington, Nevada, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky, Florida and all over the Great State of Ohio to come and make our reunion such a Fun, Fun, Fun.. Time!

I hope we can get the word to more people for our "50th" in five years!  Hopefully, most of us will be retired and will be able to make it back to Newark, Ohio.....And hopefully, most of our Newark, Ohio folks will be able to spend a night or two at their class reunion.  And....hopefully, God willing, we will all still be here!

Love to all of the Great Class of "68"....You guys are the Best.

Love Ya's,

Peggy

Kathy Applegate (Danner)

Hello Friends!

I had planned to attend our reunion and all the festivities but unfortunately I broke my foot on Friday the 13th.  I am in a cast and on crutches for another two weeks and then go to a boot.  On top of that, we are in the process of moving my mother into a condo in Heath, Ohio.  Helping to pack and move is a real challenge on crutches.  I finally made the decision to pass it up this time on the deadline day.  I felt real bad that I couldn't be there.  OK.  whine, whine, whine!  Enough of that ....I plan to make it to our next reunion and if we have any get togethers at Damon's periodically, I would be very interested in seeing all of you.  It sounds like everyone had a wonderful time.  I would also love to work on our next reunion and help in any way.  I live in Marion, Ohio which is about 1-1/2 hours away.

See you all next time....stay healthy!!

Donetta and Charlotte,Mike,Dwight and Steve, you guys were fun to work with. Thanks to Dwight and Peggy Zahrndt for handling the 50-50 on Friday and Saturday. We neglected to thank Donna and Mile Brown from Plaza Pizza for donating 4 $20 certificates,Buckeye Winery fo a $ 20 certificate,Goumas Candyland for a half pound box of chocolates, and Dwight Zahrndt got 2 bottles of wi.e donayed ftom the winery across the road from him,and several other anonymous donations for wine and gift cards.

Before I start working on missing classmates, do we have the funds to keep this website up and running for 5 more years??? Looking through the 25th reunion book that I bought, I was amazed at the number of classmates that came to the 25th but are now missing classmates. That will be the second group I work on.I've been able to locate a few people on facebook. Might be an easier way to go. Sorry for not getting around more, but with my disabilities it's difficult to stand for very long.

I attended this year's 2013 reunion and I just want to thank the committee for doing such a spectacular job.  Friday night was lots of fun and the dinner Saturday evening was wonderful all around. It was obvious how much hard work went into it.  I certainly appreciated it.   I do wish more had attended.  I don't fly too often to Ohio from Seattle but will try to attend the next one as well.  Thanks again to the committee; you did a great job and it was good seeing everyone.

Someone on Facebook asked us what we were doing when we learned about President Kennedy's death.

I remembered that I share it with quite a few of you girls.

We were in gym class (I think had finished) and were in the balcony when we were told.

On the following Sunday, we came into the house from church to hear that we had just missed watching Ruby shoot Oswald (They didn't have instant reply back then?).

We read the history of the Romans and others in Latin and history class and realized that the world was always dangrous but somehow this day in November is the day that our country seemed to join those other civilizations in being horrid.

I remember how they said on the news that a President had been assasinated every 20 or so years.  It has been 50 years (and there have been attempts and wounding) so that statistic has changed.

Thank you God.

Blessings all.
