Where to start?
I received a notice that Diana Holmes (Brown) had updated her profile. I didn't know Diana in high school (she was the quiet one), but in the course of everyone's input about the upcoming 40th in 2008 and via this magnificent website (thank you, Peggy), I met Diana at the Grill on 21st St. The idea was for anyone who was in town to meet at The Grill over July 4th that year, but we were the only ones to show up. We had a fun conversation about all the things we didn't share in high school. Pursuant to Jan Burch's contribution on June 18 this year, just start yakking and learn what you missed in school.
That said and while I was in the website, I thought I'd check out the message forum that I had not visited for a while. I was taken aback by the passing of Phil Jenkins and Charlie Snow. I suppose that at our age one should not be surprised by the passing of a classmate or anyone else, but each passing brings us closer to the reality that no, we are not invincible as we once thought. Both were good people who enriched our lives and others. Even though I have had no contact with either since high school, I will miss never seeing them again.
I can't attend the 45th this fall, but I hope everyone has a grand time. I do plan on attending our 50th, whenever and wherever it is, as that is the year I've set to retire. Of course, if the lottery intervenes, I'll have more flexibility. Somebody take LOTS of pictures this fall and post them here.
Cheers,
Malcolm
