I read all the posts here and am always in a hurry, so I always think I'll chime in another time.  Well, todayis the day.    Hi to everyone!   The weather in Marion, Ohio is pretty nasty for driving, but beautiful to look at out the window.

We are so excited for the game tonight, it's going to be a late night!

My daughter and son-in-law are the equipment carriers for the Buckeyes.  He played for Ohio State in the 1980's.  So very exciting year for the Bucks and our family.  Great win!!!!

Who was the person from Newark on national television at half time with the misspelled (or misspelt over here) poster.

I arise at 4:20am to teach a Winter Term class--it takes awhile for my re-becoming a human each morning--so I turned in early.  I must have awakened at least four or five times with Buckeye anxiety . . . but tonight I contemplate a deep, satisfied sleep.  Well done, Bucks!   (I neglected to add that it's great to know that the Northwest Chapter of the Class of '68--Freytag, Montgomery, and Wells--has not forsaken its Heartland roots.)

Rick Vannett of our '68 class has a nephew playing for OSU the past few years  He is Nick Vannett.  Nick worked his way into the starting role as OSU tight end this season, and he had several touchdown catches, including one in the championship game.  Nick played a big role in OSU's victory. Remember the guy who stumbled backwards into the endzone?  That was Nick! In the Oregon game, announcer Kirk Herbstreit talked about Nick several times, expecially when Nick opened up some huge holes on the right side for OSU's running back, Zeke Elliott.

Ohio State's Nick Vannett catches a touchdown pass

Bill; Thank You for posting the pictures and the write-up. Nick is my cousin's son, that side of the family received the size and athletic ability, still very proud of The Ohio State University Buckeyes.

Wow that's cool. Hey Rick, he's family and now part of college football history!

Hi Bill, Nancy and I are both doing great thanks for asking, I trust all is well on your end.

Nancy's Mother passed away last week, Charolette Barch was at the showing and we were able to spend some time together, first time in many many many years. It was not under the best of circumstances but it was great catching up.

At the beginning of football season I said to someone down here in Florida, wow, I went to school with a Rick Vannett in Newark.  I wonder if the OSU player is related.  Hi Rick.  Tell your cousin's son congratulations and well done.  We Buckeyes appreciate his hard work and success.  Boy, it has been tough down here in Orlando the last decade.  The Florida fans have been quite hard on us Buckeyes.  All I can say is I am quite proud to be a Buckeye, and to see a historical sports achievement winning a national championship with a third string quarterback, playing three phenominal games in a row.  Unprecedented in any sport at any level.  I have a feeling we are going to be strong contenders for some time to come.  Go Bucks.  Go Ohio.  Hi to all.....

Hi Rick and All,

Here comes another WOW!!  Rick... Congrats to you and your family.  How absolutely proud you must be...I also thought of you when I first saw the name Vannett, but as you said....you were not the tallest boy in the Great class of 1968! wink We say all the time, "why don't they throw more to that big tight-end Vannet?"  But obviously, the coach knows what he is doing.

You are right Les, it has been difficult listening to the "slamming of the Big Ten."  However, after attending a few games this year, We Buckeye Fans knew the team was starting to fire on all cylinders!!  It is magical around here, Newark, Columbus and Ohio.  Shirts and hats everywhere.  Love the Undisputed National Champion Buckeyes.

Steve, her name is Connie Frenton (don't know her)  Her nephew was Brutus at the Game!!  She said in the paper they were all cut-out letters and they didn't even realize they were put in the wrong place.  Cute article in the Advocate.
