Roger L. Sawyer         

July 13, 1949 - August 24, 2009

LEBANON: Roger L. Sawyer, age 60, of Lebanon, Oh beloved husband of Marie L.C. (Quickel) Sawyer, father of Christopher and Jeremiah "Jay" Sawyer passed unexpectedly Monday, August 24, 2009 with his family by his side.

Born July 13, 1949 in Newark, Ohio, he was the son of Sherman and Maxine (Jack) Sawyer and was a retired route salesman from the Entenmann's Company. Roger was a graduate of Weber State University in Ogden, Utah and a fan of Ohio State football. Roger himself was an offensive lineman in school and coached little league football and baseball, enjoyed golfing, motorcycling, target shooting, fishing and spending time at Rick's Auto Repair with his friends.

Roger leaves behind his loving and caring wife, Marie Sawyer, of Lebanon, Oh; sons, Christopher (Tammy) Sawyer of Columbus, Oh and Jeremiah 'Jay' Sawyer of Lebanon, Oh; his father, Sherman Sawyer of Newark, Oh; and mother, Maxine Naomi Vogelsong of Arizona; brothers, Kenny (Donna) Sawyer of California and Les Jack of Florida; sisters, Marsha Powell of Atlanta, Ga, Barbara (Dennis) Brewer of Arizona, Pam and Candy Sawyer both of Newark, Oh; grandchildren, Mason and Emma Sawyer of Columbus, Oh; and many other family members, friends, and neighbors.

Friends may call on the family Wednesday evening, August 26, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the STINE Kilburn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor Steve Tufts officiating.

The family has requested memorial donations be directed the Diabetes Association of the Dayton Area or the American Heart Association.

Roger was a big gentle guy, but on the football field for the Newark Wildcats in 1968 he just might be one of the best lineman Newark ever had. Point in case Roger ALL State First Team. HE WILL BE MISSED DEARLY BY FAIMLY, FRIENDS AND BY HIS CLASS MATES OF 1968.
