John "Pappy" Farley

NEWARK: A graveside service for John "Pappy" Farley of Newark, will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Union-Evangelical Cemetery in Baltimore, Ohio.

John was born in Ravenna, Ohio on May 8, 1949 to the late Leroy and Helen (Swancer) Farley. He died Friday July 8, 2011 at the Licking Memorial Hospital. He was 62.

A graduate of Newark HS class of '68, he worked for over 40 years at St. Regis in Newark as a forklift operator. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed golf, billiards, fishing and getting a good laugh regardless of where he was or whom he was with. John was the team mascot for the Sheridan All-Stars, enjoyed Seinfeld and loved life as if he were still a kid at heart. His greatest joy was being with his family and children.

John is preceded in death by his son, Michael J. Farley; granddaughter, Jessica N. Farley; sister, Becky Runyon, sister and brother-in-law, June and Ed McNerlin; and his brothers, Wilford "Bud" Farley and Leroy Farley.

Pappy is survived by his son, Leigh (Sheila) Farley; daughter, Amanda Farley; grandchildren, Zack, Kayla, and Kyle Farley; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; brother, Dale Santee of MD; brother-in-law, Roger Runyon of Medina; and sister-in-law, Mary Farley of Newark; mothers of the children, Lorie Kelley and loyal friend and ex-wife, Cheryl Farley. Pappy's second family includes Pierce and Austin Pettet, Kaden Paul, Hunter Westin Adkins, and his best friends, Brady and Bud.

Friends may call at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark on Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
