Hi, everyone. I would like to thank all those '68 members who are working on our 50th reunion.  Can't believe it has been that long. To answer Gilbert's questions.  Yes, we have contacted most places in and around Newark.  We are gathering prices.  Some of the places allow caterers and some do not.  The places are quite pricey to rent for the evening.  We are still exploring all of our options and hope to make a choice soon.  As for a potluck or picnic, the committee was not in favor of this at all. 

Again, our next meeting is October 16, at 6:00 PM at Second Baptist Church-19 W. National Drive  Newark.  We invite any class of 1968 member to join us and be a part of the planning!

Nancy and Jane, we are looking for people to help with honoring our classmates who have passed on   It could be done from afar,  You both could collaborate together if you thought you might want to do that.  All the ones I know of are on the website.  If you want to send me an e-mail, I can give you ideas that the Class of 67 had for their classmates at their reunion in August.

Mary Etta Daniels was a classmate of ours.  She passed away in 2014.  We are so sorry this was overlooked.  May she rest in peace, and may her memory live on in her friends and family.  Her obituary is listed in the "In Memory" section.  Thank you, Diana Holmes Brown for bringing this to our attention.

Patti Ridenour, We are going to check into getting a block of rooms at the Newark Metropolitan hotel or Courtyard Newark. will check prices for block of rooms at each. There is a Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn in Heath on Hebron Rd. if you want to check on computer to see prices. if we could get a block of rooms at discount, maybe several from the class would stay there and you could meet up. I will get on this this week.

Jerry just booked us a room at the Cherry Valley Lodge for $88 a night. You have to book online for that rate. If anyone knows anything negative about this place, please let us know. Looking forward to seeing everyone in August. God bless!

Brrr!!  We had to cancel the meeting tonight.  We are rescheduling to Monday, February 12, at 6:00, at Second Baptist on National Drive.  Hope to see you then.  Pray for warmer weather.

I stayed at the Cherry Valley Lodge last fall for a week. While needing some repair (worn carpet, etc.), it was clean, the help was friendly, the food was good, it has a nice quiet bar, and lots of conference rooms. Based on my experience, I'd say it's a great choice, especially for $88. I heard that it was sold, so I don't know what the new owners have in mind for it or what it will be like next August. It has a courtyard that is very relaxing, and it has a pool and sauna.

Hi classmates, I am talking with area hotels to get room blocks  and discounts for our reunion. I spoke with Double Tree by Hilton today in downtown Newark and they are holding 15 rooms for the dates of the 23 thru the 26 of August. The cost will be 115 dollars a night. DO NOT try to book yet at that rate because I have to sign a contract and she will give a booking URL if people want to book thru internet. I will post when it is okay to book. They will stop taking bookings at that cost 1 month prior to the reunion. I am waiting to hear back from Cherry Valley Ldge, and I am going to check with another hotel. Stay tuned. Debbie and I booked a room at the Cherry Valley Lodge for $81.00 per night. With that rate, we hope they are still in business when we arrive in August! We have stayed there over the years and the place was well-kept, but we have not been there in the last 5 years or so.

Looking forward to hanging out with a bunch of seniors with stories of their past......just like every day at our Del Webb community!
